We love the Salzkammergut and, at Baadhaus, we also offer you the chance to fall in love with this gem of Upper Austria. All year round, a variety of activities await visitors to the region around Traunsee:
Gem of the Region
In Harmony with Nature: Activities and Relaxation
The Limestone Alps with their many peaks and the iconic Traunstein panorama encircling the clear water of Traunsee captivate visitors and locals alike. Anyone who comes here immediately feels a desire to get out into this diverse piece of nature, to enjoy the idylls and experience the adventure.
The Call of the Mountains
It is not only Traunstein but also the many other mountains such as Feuerkogel, Grünberg and Sonnstein that offer magnificent walks and hiking routes of all difficulty levels – with or without a mountain guide.
Climbers too will find that their interest is satisfied on Traunstein, as Traunstein with its steep rock faces is one of the classics of rock climbing in Upper Austria.
Cuisine, Art and Culture
Traunsee is both a highlight of the region and an excellent starting point from which to discover the cultural diversity of Upper Austria. The spa town of Bad Ischl, for example, serves as a gateway to the lakes and mountains of the Salzkammergut, impressing visitors with imperial architecture in the Biedermeier style. A few kilometres away, you will find Hallstatt an enchanting part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage site. Mozart’s city, Salzburg, is also under 60 minutes away by car. When it comes to cuisine, the typical cuisine of the Salzkammergut is celebrated on Traunsee both traditionally and in a modern way.
Cycling Tours around Traunsee
One of the best ways to discover the region is by bike. The trails around the lake are virtually tailor-made for long trips. The options here include family-friendly excursions as well as challenging trekking and mountain bike tours. You will find the right option here for all conditions. Always guaranteed: the mix of lush green, fresh mountain air and picture-postcard rock formations.
Water Sports with a Dream Backdrop
The beautiful Traunsee and other nearby mountain lakes, such as the deep shimmering Langbathsee and the popular Offensee, allow a broad range of water sports activities. Whether you want a relaxed paddle by SUP through the panorama of the Alpine foothills or are seeking the adrenaline rush of water skiing, kitesurfing or windsurfing: the Salzkammergut is the perfect destination for sportspeople and active holidays.
